Introducing the Nakoi "Sankora" Collection
Designed by Rebecca Mensah | Curated for Adorn Me Treasures | Made in Ghana
The Nakoi "Sakora" Collection was born from a journey “ home”.
During my recent trip to Ghana, I experienced so much joy. From the warmth of the people to the vibrant cities pulsing with creativity and culture, every moment felt both familiar and inspiring. It felt like home. I have always been deeply moved by the extraordinary textiles, handcrafted adornments, bold colors, and the artistry woven into everyday life. That experience awakened a desire to create something that honored the beauty, innovation, and creative spirit I encountered.
Inspired by that journey, I partnered with Ghanaian designer Rebecca Mensah to bring this vision to life. The Nakoi "Sakora" Collection—a celebration of renewal, creativity, and conscious design. Each garment begins as a reclaimed men’s shirt and is transformed through the traditional West African art of hand tie-dyeing and hand painting creating a one-of-a-kind masterpiece.
Artist Rebecca Mensah brings timeless craftsmanship and modern artistic expression to every piece. She creates garments that are more than clothing—they are wearable works of art. No two pieces are ever alike, making each garment a limited-edition statement that celebrates individuality, culture, and purpose.
From The Artist:
In Ghana, “Sakora” is a word commonly used to describe someone with a shaved or bald head. For women especially, wearing a bald head as a personal or fashion choice can still draw curiosity, laughter, or judgment in some spaces.
Through this collection, I wanted to spotlight the beauty, strength, confidence, and individuality of women who choose to exist boldly and unapologetically. Each painted figure is a celebration of identity, freedom, and the courage to be seen beyond society’s expectations.

This golden yellow silk, long furisode-style kimono features a garden of large white roses. The name furisode means “swinging sleeves,” referring to the dramatic, billowing design. In Japan, roses have a unique place in history and culture. Though they are not native to Japan, roses have come to symbolize love, beauty, and elegance.
